Queue Machines: Hardware Compilation in Hardware
نویسندگان
چکیده
In this paper, we hypothesize that reconfigurable computing is not more widely used because of the logistical difficulties caused by the close coupling of applications and hardware platforms. As an alternative, we propose computing machines that use a single, serial instruction representation for the entire reconfigurable computing application. We show how it is possible to convert, at runtime, the parallel portions of the application into a spatial representation suitable for execution on a reconfigurable fabric. The conversion to spatial representation is facilitated by the use of an instruction set architecture based on an operand queue. We describe techniques to generate code for queue machines and hardware virtualization techniques necessary to allow any application to execute on any platform.

This article describes the integration of temperature and vibration models for maintenance monitoring of conventional machinery parts in which their optimal and best functionalities are affected by abnormal changes in temperature and vibration values thereby resulting in machine failures, machines breakdown, poor quality of products, inability to meeting customers’ demand, poor inventory contro...
متن کاملA Exploring Single and Multi-Level JIT Compilation Policy for Modern Machines1
Dynamic or Just-in-Time (JIT) compilation is essential to achieve high-performance emulation for programs written in managed languages, such as Java and C#. It has been observed that a conservative JIT compilation policy is most effective to obtain good runtime performance without impeding application progress on single-core machines. At the same time, it is often suggested that a more aggressi...
متن کاملEfficient compilation for queue size constrained queue processors
Queue computers use a FIFO data structure for data processing. The essential characteristics of a queue-based architecture excel at satisfying the demands of embedded systems, including: compact instruction set, simple hardware logic, high parallelism, and low power consumption. The size of the queue is an important concern in the design of a realizable embedded queue processor. We introduce th...
متن کاملHardware compilation for high performance Java processors
High performance on Java applications running on server and desktop machines requires fast execution of Java bytecodes. Such performance can be achieved by Just-In-Time (JIT) compilers, which translate the stack-based bytecodes into register-based machine code on demand. But one crucial problem in Java JIT compilation is the compilation time, which increases the total execution time of an appli...
متن کاملVirtual Machines and Abstract Compilers - Towards a Compiler Pattern Language
Because of the increasing gap between modern high-level programming languages and existing hardware, it has often become necessary to introduce intermediate languages and to build virtual machines on top of the hardware. This paper describes the VIRTUAL MACHINE and the ABSTRACT COMPILER patterns, a proposal that captures the essential features underlying the compilation processes based on stagi...
